Books that have left an impact.

Every year around this time I always become nostalgic for stories that have stuck with me. The old favorites come back. There is just something about the dead of winter where I just want to curl up on the couch with a familiar favorite.
A friend posted a list of 12 bands/artists that have stayed with you. Instead here is my take on the idea.

List 12 literary works that have stayed with you, but only 1 per author. Don't take too long and don't think too hard.
1. The People Could Fly – Virginia Hamilton
2. Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters – John Steptoe
3. Peter Pan – J. M. Barrie
4. A book of folktales from various cultures ( I do not remember the authors just the stories)
5. Alice’s Adventure In Wonderland – Lewis Carrol
6. Skeleton Crew – Stephen King (ok this was extremely hard to narrow down. I have been a fan of Stephen King my entire life.)
7. Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
8. The Joy Luck Club – Amy Tan
9. The Inhuman Condition – Clive Barker
10. Nyarlathotep – H.P. Lovecraft
11. Bellman & Black – Diane Setterfield
12. Black Trillium – Marion Zimmer Bradley, Julian May, Andre Norton

So many authors so many stories.
Ok this was been harder than expected because well quite a number of books that stuck with me are from the same authors. *
Peter Pan and Alice's Adventure in Wonderland could almost count as one. I have such found memories of being a child and my mom reading the book to me each night before bed. It was a double book. One half was Peter Pan, flip it over and the other half was Alice.

I have attempted this same list for comic books but that is nearly impossible. What arc, which version, which retelling, should i just choose a time period, it's just too much.
