The ABC's of Black History

A is for Aviation

Kicking everything off with those trailblazers who took to the skies.

Potentially most well known of Black aviators the Tuskegee Airmen, Bessie Coleman, Willa Brown, and Cornelius Coffey. In recent years we have seen their stories brought to life on screen, tv, and in books. Movies such as Redtails (2012), The Tuskegee Airmen (1995), Double Victory: The Tuskegee Airmen at War (2012), The Life of Bessie Coleman:First African-American Woman Pilot and countless other stories. These pioneers have paved the way for generations of people to take to the skies. So much so that there is an organization called Black Pilots of America.

IF you are interested in finding out more about pioneers of Black Aviation do a search this month.
Take 10 minutes out of doom scrolling and just look up to the sky and wonder.
